Responsive Websites for Non-Profit Scientific Societies

A well featured Society Website will draw members and other stakeholders together to solve their scientific problems, network with peers internationally and disseminate knowledge about the field.

With the help of WordPress, I’ve been transforming non-profit scientific and medical society websites into attractive, responsive, well featured society offices which can be maintained by staff and volunteers. WordPress is a full content management system (CMS) which is open source and mostly FREE. Once I design a new website for a client, or redesign an existing site in WordPress, my clients can easily add their own content such as:

  • newsletters (integration with E-mail marketing providers: MailChimp or Constant Contact
  • meeting program updates
  • photo galleries, videos and presentations with audio from recent meetings
  • new posts and pages which can be set up to automatically populate social media platforms such as Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook
  • banner ads for sponsors including analytics

Society members are drawn to the website whenever a new Post is published as that automatically triggers a discussion on the LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook pages, streamlining social media updates and increasing shares, likes and encouraging dialogue.
