Kaposi’s sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV), also known as human herpesvirus 8 (HHV-8), is the infectious cause of Kaposi sarcoma and at least two lymphoproliferative disorders: primary effusion lymphoma and multicentric Castleman’s disease. The 22nd International Conference on Kaposi’s Sarcoma-associated Herpesvirus and Related Agents takes place in New York City on the 25th anniversary of the discovery of KSHV by Chang and Moore who were at Columbia when they made their discovery.
